Why Board An Alpaca?
Boarding an alpaca can be a cost
effective way to for someone to enter the Alpaca Business. It may also
be a way that someone can have the financial and tax advantages of ownership
even if they do not have land for them to keep the alpaca themselves.
In some cases a new breeder will board the alpaca, allowing them time to
learn more and become more comfortable with ownership and caring for the
alpaca. Boarding can also be a way to have alpacas in different
regions of the country, making potential sales easier.
There can be a number of reasons for boarding an alpaca with a breeder.
Whatever the reason, we caution you to be sure you know what care you alpaca
will receive.
What Care should I get?
The care your alpaca will receive will depend
on what care you ask for. Generally the alpaca is provided with
shelter, feed, hay, water and general care and supervision. In many
cases we sit and discuss options for care with someone. We also
provide you with a "schedule of costs" for things that may arise with your
alpaca. We also ask for a "Medical Release" that allows us to get
emergency medical care for your alpaca if required. One basic rule at
Safe Haven Farm; every alpaca is treated as if it is our alpaca! You
alpaca is a part of our herd, which means that we will always do what is
right and worry about the cost or work involved later.
